While I can learn most things from a book or traditional teaching method, things come more easily to me when I can get my hands involved, visualize object lessons, recollect catchy phrases, and of course- practice.

This is how I learn.

And this is how I teach.

The Kim Winey Photography Bootcamp {Manual Settings- Simplified!} is designed to teach you, in a hands on manner, how to adjust your camera's ISO, aperture, and shutter speed, to achieve properly exposed pictures... consistently.   This class is perfect for individuals in the early stages of their photographic journey. Parents, grandparents, bloggers, small business owners, teachers, and life lovers will especially benefit!

Session 1  $300  {9:00am - 12:30pm}

Manual Settings- Simplified!

Join me for a non-threatening, fun-filled time of learning the who, what, when, where, and why of Manual Settings.  Visual aids & inspiring photos will be used to explain ISO, aperture and shutter speed, {as well as a few other techie camera topics}.

During each of the three main topics, time will also be given to a) learn how to adjust the settings on your own camera b) practice adjusting the settings & observe the results of the changes and c) ask questions.

*Snack & drinks provided

Session 2  $200  {1:30pm - 4:00pm, must have previously attended session 1, to join session 2}

Manual Settings- Practicized!

Practice your new skills, while we move around the cabin and weather permitting, the beautiful Hull's property.

Photo challenges will be given, to help you actively think about which settings to select.  I will be on hand with demonstrations, for private questions, to sneak you some chocolate, or provide extra help!

* Lunch will be provided from 12:30-1:30pm, for those who are taking sessions 1 and 2.

Questions and Answers!

Q: Should I bring a camera and if so, what kind?

A: Yes, please bring your digital camera!  Part of getting a good grasp on Manual Settings is learning where the dials and buttons are on YOUR particular camera.  You can bring a point and shoot or a DSLR, so long as there is a Manual Mode option.  It will appear as an "M", on your mode dial.  If you are unsure about your particular camera, please feel free to give me a call and we'll figure it out, together!  {717-689-3277}

Q: How should I prepare my camera?

A: You should have your battery fully charged, with a back up on hand, if possible.  Please bring a memory card or two, with LOTS of space to take pictures.  *If you can empty your card before the class, that would be fabulous!  Also, mental preparedness is key to any new adventure.  Please take a moment to warn your auto-setting that you will no longer be needing its services.

Q: Do I need to bring anything else?

A: Yes.  Please bring your camera's manual. You know... that little book that came with your camera, that you glanced at, got overwhelmed with and so now you're taking my class to decipher it.  Yes... that's the one.  For bonus points, mark the sections that explain how to change your ISO, aperture & shutter speed.  This may save us a lot of time, in class.  If, like me, you threw out your English version and only retained the Spanish copy, you can a) download the info from the internet or b) don't worry about it and we'll figure it out, at the cabin.  If you would also like to bring a laptop & cable to connect your camera to the laptop, you may.  There may be time, at the end of the second session for you to upload some of your photos for larger viewing.  This is optional and is not required.

Q: What should I wear and are boots required?

A: Dress comfortably!  I myself, will be wearing my work clothes.  No, not my striped, pink PJ's, though that is tempting...  jeans and a nice top.  Boots are recommended, as we will be in the country and the ground gets mushy, but they are not required.

Q: What kinds of food will you be serving?

A:  The good kind!  Cold and hot drinks will be on hand, all day.  Obbbbbviously, chocolate will be a special guest.  I will have fruit (at least) during the morning session.  And the lunch menu is still bouncing around in my brain!  Please let me know if you have any allergies or dietary needs.

To sign up for the Kim Winey Bootcamp {Manual Settings- Simplified!}, please email kimwineyphotography@gmail.com.  Include your name, phone number, best time of day to be reached, and preferred Bootcamp date.   I will contact you during my next office day to continue the registration process {Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, typically}.  *A non-refundable retainer of $150 is due within 5 days of your registration date, to secure your seat.

I look forward to chatting with you and answering any additional questions, you may have!

Warmly,

Kim Winey
